Chappaqua Hamlet Revitalization | New Castle, New York

Pouder Design was retained in 2008 to prepare a vision plan and technical documents for the revitalization of the entire Chappaqua hamlet streetscape. In close cooperation with a community “Downtown Steering Committee” Pouder, as Lead-Consultant, is collaborating with Studio RAI Architects, the Institute for Human Centered Design, WASA Architects and Dolph Rotfeld Engineers to redevelop this mile-long business corridor. The Vision Plan proposes a series of pocket parks, improved access for the disabled, reconfigured parking, pedestrian-friendly curb ‘bulbs’ and speed tables, a new Civic Center/Performing Arts facility, stormwater management, facade enhancements, infill development, second-story additions to existing buildings, a parking garage, historic street lamps retrofitted with energy-efficient LED technology, brick paving and extensive plantings. The team prepared a three-dimensional ‘fly-over’ digital animated model of the project with “Before” and “After” views of key project components.
