Architects and operators of affordable housing projects frequently call upon the Pouder Design Group to create ecologically responsible, energy efficient and economically sound projects. We generally initiate these projects by meeting with the owner/operator and the entire design team in round-table format work sessions where guiding principles for the project are established and concerns are resolved. The firm often works on projects funded through the NY State Division of Housing and Community Renewal and we are well versed in their standards and procedures. The restoration of site landscaping and the development of a passive use outdoor space at this multi -unit apartment is an example of how green principles can be successfully integrated in a densely populated urban context. The site was enhanced by increasing plant species diversity, removing paved surfaces, using native plant species that are tolerant of urban conditions, and creating a passive use outdoor space with ample seating, picnic, and play areas.
